Michael Allen: Black Bear Researcher
Michael Allen is a self-taught black bear researcher with Coastal Mountain Black Bear Resources. His information on the life history of black bears is based on 14 years of comprehensive field observations. Allen´s research has been represented internationally through the BBC Natural World's "In the Company of Bears" and the U.S. Discovery Animal Planet new bear ecology website. Coastal Mountain Black Bear Resources provides a foundation for ski area, school, and community bear awareness programs.
Arthur DeJong: Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Planning and Environmental Resource Manager
Arthur has worked in the ski industry for 20 years. Prior positions include Ski Patrol Director and Mountain Manager, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ski area. This experience, combined with a post secondary education in business and blended with a passion for the environment, has enabled Arthur to effectively oversee all on-mountain development for Whistler/Blackcomb. Arthur´s creative flare and deep concern for the environment has lead to three North American environmental awards for environmental education, fish and wildlife protection and community relations.

Bob Brett is a consulting forest ecologist and president of the Whistler Naturalists. He has a Masters in Forest Science from the University of British Columbia and a strong interest in high elevation ecosystems. Bob´s specialty is wildflowers and trees, but through the help of other naturalists, he is slowly learning to identify things that move (i.e. birds and mammals). Bob is a full-time ski instructor on Whistler in the winter months and spends most of his time trying to get his students to go tree skiing.
